Ecumenical Relationships

We are one of 38 member communions of the National Council of Churches and Presiding Bishop Francis Krebs serves on the Governing Board.

The ECC is currently focused on, and engaged in developing relations with, a number of NCC members including among others the Episcopal Church, which is in full communion with the Old Catholic Churches of the Union of Utrecht, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, which is in full communion with the Episcopal Church.

We are also focused on developing relations with other “independent” Catholic churches.  To this end Bishop Francis meets with bishops of other independent Catholic jurisdictions on a monthly basis, attempting to forge pathways to cooperation and collaboration.

We are also a member communion of Church World Service. CWS is a sister organization of the NCC, providing sustainable self-help, development, disaster relief, and refugee assistance around the world.  Fr. Mike Bober represents us at CWS.

Bishop Francis and Lutheran Bishop Jim Gonia meet with Lutheran and Catholic representatives from congregations in the Rocky Mountain Region where ECC communities are nested in ELCA parishes.
